For the love of dusk…

There is something about sunset… The light changes, the heat lifts and for many, the work day comes to a close. It’s a little sigh of relief, an ellipses where time seems to pause and linger.

Here at the Junction, we love dusk because it is hands down the best time to sit and enjoy our patio. As the sun sinks over the western hills, casting our colorful digs in a gorgeous golden hue our outdoor tables become the hot spot - even hotter than our beautiful bar. Trains screech and lumber past. Pedestrians stroll by with dogs and babies, some stop and stay awhile. Groups of friends gather at the picnic tables, pouring over the evening menu or ordering rounds of beers. It’s friendly, its welcoming, and its truly lovely.

This isn’t downtown Asheville. It’s not a major people-watching destination. But we have a view: a glimpse of nature, a panorama of history and industry, of old and of new. Like us, the neighborhood isn’t perfectly manicured. It has rough edges, it has beauty. There are no white tablecloths here.

But back to that patio… Dusk shifts a bright and vibrant lunch spot into a cozy, hip and romantic evening hang out. Cocktails beckon to be drunk, cheese and charcuterie plates devoured. And then there’s the fried okra basket. It’s an unbelievable culinary sensation for $6. All this and a sunset view, you really have to see it to believe it. Come on down.
