July Third Thursday featuring Andy Herod

July Third Thursday featuring Andy Herod

The Junction is excited to welcome one of our employees to the walls for our July Third Thursday artist reception on the 18th. Andy Herod is a self-taught painter, illustrator, printmaker and musician who has called Asheville home since 2009. He can also be found behind the bar at the Junction random nights of the week as well as during Sunday Brunch.

Andy’s work strikes us as somewhat primal and archetypal, with bold lines, almost hieroglyphic shapes and totem-like forms. However, it’s often not very serious, kinda like Andy himself. As he writes in his artist statement: “He is currently experimenting with hand colored screen prints, using such media as gauche, water color, coffee and acrylic paint. His subject matter can vary wildly from extinct animal skulls to god on a skateboard. The general idea though, is that you have as awesome of a time experiencing his work as he did making it.”

Andy’s reception will take place July 18th at 6 p.m. Please join us for a glass of wine and a chance to chat with the artist about his work. And don’t forget to check out other Third Thursday events along Depot Street. For more information or to book a reservation please call: 828-225-3497.
